Alfred Alviso
- Army

October 31, 1924 - September 5, 2023
Alfred Alviso, a lifetime resident of Livermore, passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was 98 years old.
In 1942, Al left in the middle of his senior year at Livermore High School to enlist in the Army. He was stationed in the Philippines far away from his Livermore home. Al was in the 511th Signal Corp and started in the message center. He volunteered and earned his wings as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne and was part of the occupation of Japan. In his spare time, he was also a main cook and barber. After the war concluded, he returned home to Livermore. And when the local VFW post was organized, Al signed up as one of the first members.
