WELCOME TO LIVERMORE VALLEY

Teamwork ~ Leadership ~ Commitment
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

We had a visitor to our meeting last night - David Haubert, Alameda County Supervisor, District 1. His talk was very informative, compelling, and pertinent to the current situation in Livermore and the surrounding community and State.

The following is a follow-up Statement from former Post Commander Mike Gilmore - thanks, Mike.

ALCON,

Before last night's meeting, we were visited by Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert. The purpose of his visit was to thank us for being patient with the current use of the Veterans Hall as a warming center. While he may have mentioned the hall might be used as a cooling center, this is not true and was meant as a joke to get the County to purchase AC for the building. Those who have been around for a while know there is no way the County will spring nearly $300k into a 90-year-old building to complete these upgrades. As he reminded us, this is a one-time temporary fix as a new center for the homeless is being built, Vineyard 2.0, which is set to open Summer of 2023.

Please see the Supervisors message:
"Thank You, Livermore VFW, for allowing me to speak tonight; I learned a lot. I reiterate my last point from tonight; if you have questions, comments, gripes, or complaints, contact me at District 1: (510) 272-6691. You may not always like the answer, but I promise to listen and help as best I can. But above all, please call me if you have anything to say. "
Thank You, David Haubert

We are a strong post, and just like we did in the military, we will adapt and get through these next couple of months. Yes, this is an inconvenience, and there are better places to use as a warming center. However, none were planned, nor were any going to open in the greater tri-valley region. As a veteran service organization, we are here to help our local veterans and community. Let's remember that we are Livermore Valley Post 7265, and we are an All-American Post. We stand above the rest.
